Sow oriental spices were inspired by the traditional Chinese five spices. During ancient China, five spices were frequently referred to as the "magic spices". The ancients used them to create a perfect taste balance of sweet, bitter, sour, salty, and pungent.
Coming from southern China, I grew up eating my grandma's food. She often cooked meat with traditional Chinese five spices. After turning to plant-based, I realised that I didn't miss the "meaty" flavour, rather the spices and juicy texture of food. So we decided to remake my grandma's recipe with plant-based protein.
If you like far-east asian cuisine, or keen to try new flavours, this one is definitely for you. They are chewy, flavourful and exotic.
You can eat directly or toss them into your meals during cooking.
You can also microwave for 30-60 seconds and add them as toppings to your favourite dishes.

I’m not vegetarian/vegan but Sow Oriental Spices is so delicious that I would choose it over meat. It is chewy, juicy and tasty! As a Chinese I am really impressed by its Chinese Five Spices flavour. It makes me feel like home and reminds me of those times when my mom cooked traditional dishes for our family.
I like high protein plant-based food and have tried many others like Beyond Meat and Quorn Pieces, and Sow Protein way exceeds my expectations. It goes on well with many dishes. I just improvise and add these protein chunks to my meals whenever I like. But my favourite way of enjoying Sow Protein is SNACKING;) especially when I want to boost my energy during busy hours without feeling sleepy (-, - )…zzzZZZ
These soy protein chunks are so chewy and packed with amazing umami flavours! I've found them go well with different kinds of dishes, such as pasta, noodles and rice. I like to just sprinkle some on top of my everyday one-bowl/plate meals, which always bring a delicious kick of flavour. Plus they also elevate the whole nutrition level by adding extra protein. I even like to enjoy them straight from the bag as energy bites in the busy afternoons :D
Absolutely delicious! Tastes like beef jerky (肉干)and it’s vegan! It can go with rice and can be eaten as a snack. Reminds me of authentic Chinese food you could only really get in Asia!
Best soy product I've tasted. Such fantastic 5-spice flavouring, wonderfully seasoned umami saltiness and great with any asian dishes!
So very tasty and great cold or warmed up in salad dishes these are super nice!
The texture was incredible smooth and felt as if I was eating chicken. I cooked is for 5min in the pan to make it crispy and added it to my salad. Love the spices, which is a nice mix between sweet and salty. Will definitely eat this whenever I don’t have time to cook, such a good way to get my proteins.
I sampled these at a vegan food market but sadly they had run out of stock, so I immediately purchased them online - the flavouring is so delicious and the texture very meat like - they’re great on pizzas or in stir fries, or great just as a snack on their own!
Honestly, so far it is one of the best plant-based alternatives I've tried in my life. It really does taste amazing, you can't even compare it to any other plant-based product sold in places like Tesco or Sainsbury's. I'm really positively surprised with both the flavor and texture as well as the fact that you can enjoy it as a snack if you don't feel like cooking anything big. Try it and you'll see for yourself, you can use it in almost every meal and it'll always taste great :))
